Wanderschied Makes History with Fourth World Championship

Eagle River, WI - January 16, 2011 - P.J. Wanderschied, powered by an Ultimax XS drive belt, became the first four-time world champion in a great race at Eagle River, Wisconsin. In the 48th running of the World Championship Derby, Wanderschied narrowly edged Gary Moyle in the 30 lap race. Moyle was ahead at the half way point and led most of the race. Moyle raced a high smoother line around the famous half-mile oval while Wanderschied stayed low. The two former champions ran side by side until Wanderscheid took the checkered flag with a .375-second victory.

Jacques Villeneuve, another Carlisle sponsored racer, is a three-time former champion. Villeneuve crashed earlier in the weekend and had to fight his way into the final in the last-chance qualifier. Starting from the back row, Villeneuve moved from 12th to third to join Wanderschied and Moyle on the podium.

Congratulations to PJ, Gary and Jacques.
